Research at the FMP

The research activities of the FMP are clustered into the three sections "Structural Biology", "Signal Transduction/Molecular Genetics", and "Chemical Biology" - each of them comprising departments as well as various independent groups. This organizational matrix helps to strategically bundle compatible research approaches. Moreover, it is the basis for an effective use of the technological resources of the institute. Regardless of these clusters, scientific work at the FMP is highly interconnected creating synergy from bilateral or multilateral cooperations.

The FMP plays an active role in local, national and international research networks and cooperates with many research institutions and universities. It has established strong links based on cooperation contracts with the universities of Berlin for both teaching and research. FMP groups are involved in research association projects including collaborative research centres, research training groups, priority programs and projects financed by EU funds. The institute has developed close scientific and organizational cooperation with the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine.
